Your Next Meeting

By Ellis & Company Retirement Strategists | May 1, 2023

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

It is important to us that you get the most out of your financial planning meeting.

We’ve found the below items can make a big difference in a productive conversation.

Find Your Purpose

When creating your strategy, you have specific items you want to accomplish. What is your purpose for financial planning? Most people find it helpful to invest time into thinking about what is most important to you. Share these items with us. We genuinely would love to hear them. Below are a few questions to engage your thoughts and feelings about your purpose.

  • What am I hoping to accomplish with my financial planning?
  • What are your priorities, when it comes to your financial planning?
  • When do you want to accomplish these goals?
  • Who are the people that are a part of your plans? What do you want to do for them?
  • What would you regret the most if it doesn’t go the way you prefer?

Your Questions

You have real questions. We have real answers. It is important to us that you feel comfortable to ask any questions you have. Before we get together, take a few moments and write down any questions or topics you’d like to focus on. Even better, share them with us ahead of time so we can make sure we are well prepared to give you a quality answer.

Current Documents

It is not out of the ordinary for financial circumstances to change from time to time. For us to help develop a sound financial plan for you, we must have current information. Your Client Service Manager will connect with you a few weeks before your appointment. Make sure to share updated information. Below are a few examples of what to provide:

  • Account Statements

Complete statements on accounts not held by our team. For example: 401(k), IRA, Roth IRA, 403(b), SIMPLE IRA, SEP IRA, life insurance… etc.

  • Retirement Income Sources

Social Security benefits, pension benefits, disability, any other source of income you are receiving or anticipate receiving.

  • Legal documents:

Last Will and Testament, Living Will, Power of Attorney, Trust documents, Estate documents… etc.

  • Banking Information
  • Beneficiary information (if changing):
    • Full Name
    • Date of Birth
    • Social Security Number
  • Driver’s License

We have noticed over the years those that invest time in preparing for their meetings have more confidence, feel more secure, and believe their appointment is more productive. These items above are a few things that can make sure you get the most out of your next appointment.

Retire Confident,

Your Team
